During Human Trafficking Prevention Month, we will have ways for you to raise awareness about human trafficking, share your heart for the cause with friends, and take steps to end this injustice once and for all. Here are just a few ideas to get us started:
Every Wednesday in January, we take a moment at every red light or stop sign to say a prayer for or remember those still enslaved in Red Light Districts in India and around the world. We put a few images on Facebook and Instagram for you to share each Wednesday and let others know you are standing — well, stopping 🙂 — with us for FREEDOM.
We focus on empowering women through sustainable, living-wage employment because we know that this makes her less vulnerable to abuse and human trafficking and positively impacts her family and community. All month long, we will share images of what empowerment looks like at Sudara. We’d love to see what empowerment means and looks like to you. And, for you to challenge your friends and family to share the same.
Stay informed! And, believe that you can make a difference.
Human trafficking occurs every day in cities around the world — most likely, it’s happening in the city where you live. Even small actions will help: familiarizing yourself with the warning signs of human trafficking situations, writing to your local representatives, purchasing items from groups that focus on ending human trafficking or empowering survivors, and volunteering with local victim outreach initiatives. You’ll see more information from us this month about human trafficking news and organizations that are making a difference.
What else is happening during Human Trafficking Prevention Month?
We’re collaborating with a few like-minded brands for giveaways (yay!!) and to help you learn about other do-good organizations. We’re sharing even more of our favorite quotes about justice and empowerment. And, we’ll continue our focus on Sudara Stories and the amazing women in the skills-training programs who sew Punjammies.
